A studio at the Falcon is more than just a workspace. It’s a chance to work in a space with a staff that truly supports your goal to engage vibrantly in the arts, to produce quality new works, be immersed in an uplifting workspace surrounded by beautiful art and be inspired by other masters of artistic disciplines.

Artists can work with Falcon Art Community staff to place their work with patrons through the Community’s gallery sales or show their work in high-profile locations such as the Mayor’s Office through the art rental and loan program. The Falcon supports artists directly by purchasing their work for its museum-quality permanent collection, and has purchased works to help artists pay for travel expenses to apprenticeships. Falcon staff are always looking for innovative approaches to helping artists improve their careers and their craft, and we encourage artists to engage actively with the community and opportunities presented. We work with community partners to provide services such as reproduction, framing and art supplies for discounted rates.

Rent from the Falcon Art Community’s multiple properties helps to subsidize the studios and gallery, which operates on a low-commission philosophy, directing more income to the artists from their sales than traditional galleries. In addition, artists participate in thrice yearly open studio events and have access to the Portland Artists’ Clinic, a health clinic that provides cut-rate or free health services to working artists.
